Rizzi ready when called upon

Senior Captain, Kyle Rizzi, has has been producing at the plate when his number is called.  The St. Scholastica second baseman and Austin BlueSox RF/P/Util is hitting .333 in 20 games this season.  Rizzi, who excels at many positions on the diamond, has started in 5 of the 20 games he has played and carries a .500 OBP along with his excellent average.

 The Saints of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) are currently 33-6 and the #1 seed into the UMAC tourney.  They are slated to square off against #4 seed Northland College on Thursday, May 10th at 1 PM.

SCSU trio contribute

    
Three Austin BlueSox players have been starting and contributing for the St. Cloud State University baseball team of the North Central Conference.  Nate  Johnson (CF), Joe Kroc (2B), and Louis Lang (1B, DH) have been instrumental as the Huskies close in on post season play.  The Huskies, 12-23 (6-10 conference), host the NCC tournament May 9-12.

Nelson wins MCC Tourney opener

     Waldorf defeated William Penn University 3-2 on Wednesday in the opening round of the MCC Tournament played at Riverfront Stadium in Waterloo.

Nels Nelson tossed a five-hitter with six strikeouts and the Warrior offense took advantage of three Statesmen errors to earn the post-season victory.

Waldorf (11-29) will face Grand View College at 3:30 PM on Thursday in Waterloo’s Riverfront Stadium.


Swank continues solid season
     Andy Swank of Briar Cliff University carries a .300 batting average as the Chargers battle through the GPAC tournament.  The Chargers, who secured a share of the regular season GPAC crown, are rated 3rd in the latest NAIA Division III ratings.
