Pitching

Dan Kirby pitched 5 innings of 1 hit baseball to take the win in a game shortened due to 10 run rule. Kirby face only 4 batters over the minimum and used solid defense from Casey Toops and Todd Walerak up the middle to end a few Colonel rallies via the double play. Josh Kunze pitched the 6th inning facing only three batters and Brady Toops (Casey’s twin brother) pitched the final stanza allowing allowing 1 earned run on 2 hits while plunking a batter.\

Hitting

2nd inn- After Wolard reaches on an error by the shortstop Nels Nelson enters as a courtesy ruuner. Nelson steals second, advances to 3rd on a single from casey Toops, and scores on a wild pitch. Toops steals 2nd, advances to 3rd on a wild pitch and is plated by Joe Huffman’s fielders choice.

3rd inn- with one out Sox start 3 run rally. Single to right field by Swank, ground out by johnson, Brady Toops HBP, Wolard RBI single, swift reaches on error scoring B. Toops, Casey Toops walks, Huffman RBI walk,

4th inn- Sox send 11 to plate-score 7. with one out Swank singles, followed by 4 consecutive walks, Casey Toops sac fly, Huffman RBI single, Swank RBI single in his second at bat of the inning.

6th inn- Walerak lead off walk, advances to second when Rizzi reaches on error, Swank RBI single, Brady Toops RBI fielders choice.

Notes-

Andy Swank was 5-5 with 5 singles, 2RBI’s and a SB. “We shuffled Andy from the 3-hole to the lead off spot to give us a different look. He is seeing the ball well right now and sets the table for our RBI guys” ~Player/Coach Josh Kunze~
